Brainfart's Super Bowl Prediction

It's Super Bowl Time!!  So, you know what that means, Brainfart is going to look into the future and give you the outcome of this game:

Sambo's Pick - In order to understand why I'm picking who I think will win the Super Bowl I must tell you a story.  Let's go back to the Fall of 2003.  It's Homecoming Weekend at Clemson and I am in my first senior year (I had two of them!).  It's Friday and a couple friends and I decide to take a break from building our fraternity's Homecoming float (and by building our float, I mean watch pledges build our float) and go take advantage of Happy Hour at a nearby bar.  We head inside and find some bar stools next to an attractive female and her parents.  After a couple of beers, I strike up a conversation with the attractive female's father and find out that he is a Boston Whaler dealer from Baltimore who is also a huge Baltimore Ravens fan and a season ticket-holder.  He tells me how awesome the games are, how much the tailgating rules at Ravens' games, and how exciting it is when Ray Lewis comes on the field and does his crazy dance.  He also gives me his cell number and says that we have to come up to game before the season is over.  What happens next is not entirely clear, but this guy decides to re-live his college days and challenges my friends and I to a shot-drinking competition.  However, because I was talking some shit to the guy, he decides that I should take two shots to his every one.  And because I am an idiot, I gladly accept his challenge.  We were in there for only an hour and a half and not a one of us remembers leaving that bar.  The next thing I do remember is waking up on the couch at my place with a half-eaten pizza on the coffee table, a trash can with vomit in it on the floor, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory playing on the TV.  My roommate tells me that I came stumbling into the house and demanded he put on Willy Wonka and he made my wish come true because I was too drunk to even turn on the TV, let alone work the DVD player.  I'm also told that I got a ride home from a pledge and that at one point while stuck at a redlight, I leaned out the window of his car and yelled "How Much?" to a coed who happened to be standing at a crosswalk with her parents.  So, because I love that story I am picking the Ravens to win the Super Bowl and I hope that crazy Boston Whaler dealer is out there somewhere pulling for them, too.  Also, there is no way I can pull for a team that has Randy Moss on it.

Baltimore 28 - San Francisco 24

Alex's Pick - By all accounts this game is tough to predict....except for me.  The Ravens have one thing going - Ray Lewis and his direct connection to God.  Or does he?  He talks like a preacher and his speeches inspire players to take their game to a whole new level.  Heck, he even sent a guy to heaven after the last super bowl he was in.  But I think he is actually being worshiped too much thus making him a false idol which is in fact anti-God.  This is troublesome and should put God slightly on the 49ers side.  San Francisco is not a team of angels - their star quarterback is even promoting inking yourself, clearly anti-holy.  But the 49ers don't fake it - they are a group of old fashioned, hard-hitting, gay-hating football players; and even God has to respect that - at least by a field goal. This way God keeps himself from getting too involved, letting the 49ers win, but giving a shout-out to the people who gambled on the Ravens.  Smart play God.

Baltimore 17 - San Francisco 20

"I'm fairly certain that Colin Kaepernick is the reincarnation of Steamin' Willie Beamen."

NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular - Super Bowl

Because we here at Brainfart love us some football, we decided that we would be doing some NFL picks, too. So, here is where I make my NAPS (NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular):

Picks are in red
All lines are provided by Sportsbook.ag

San Francisco 49ers v. Baltimore Ravens (+3.5)
(UNDER 47.5)
Sunday Feb. 3rd
6:30

- This is going to be a good game - no doubt about that.  The aging veteran defense with young offensive skill position players versus the scary defense with a rookie QB.  At this point I am putting some stock in the "Ray Lewis Boost" the Ravens are getting.  The Ravens have not been spectacular but they are solid, never getting too high or low.  The 49ers have been mostly great but they have shown some weakness in a couple of games in the second half of the year.  With things this close I am going to have to take the points in this one, but I am hoping some nerves come into play to keep the score low.

NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular - Playoffs Week 3

Because we here at Brainfart love us some football, we decided that we would be doing some NFL picks, too. So, here is where I make my NAPS (NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular):

Picks are in red
All lines are provided by Sportsbook.ag
San Francisco 49ers @ Atlanta Falcons (+4.5)
(UNDER 49)
Sunday 3:00

- There are too many people still saying the Falcons don't deserve to be here.  Maybe the pundits are right but the Falcons have a decent QB, a solid defense, and three top tier pass-catchers.  That combination is solid and is what got them to the #1 seed.  Colin Kaepernick is the X-factor in this game.  For the 49ers to win he will have to make some special plays.  He has the ability to do that but he has also had games where he has been less than spectacular.  He is never a huge passing threat and he only has one viable receiving option in Crabtree.  The 49ers defense is good but it has been far from unstoppable like they showed earlier in the season.  This game should be more of slug-fest than either teams' previous games which is why I will take the 4.5 points and go with the Falcons.

Baltimore Ravens (+8) @ New England Patriots
(OVER 51.5)
Sunday 6:30

- We all know how good Brady and the Patriots offense is, but without Gronk they do lose something.  Without their crazy TE, Brady still has tons of weapons but not a guy he can just throw it up to with any confidence even if they are well covered.  Their defense has also continued to progress; however, Flacco has been great so far in the playoffs connecting on a lot of 50+ yard touchdowns. The Patriots are great at taking away the other team's number one threat but the Ravens have options with the deep ball, underneath throws to Boldin and Pitta, and running with Ray Rice.  The number one thing the Ravens have going for them is that they are the one team that isn't intimidated at all by the Patriots and they know they can beat them.  Since 2007, the Patriots are 4-2 against the Ravens but they have never won by more than 6.  This game is going to be close which makes it easy to take the 8.

NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular - Playoffs Week 2

Because we here at Brainfart love us some football, we decided that we would be doing some NFL picks, too. So, here is where I make my NAPS (NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular):

Picks are in red
All lines are provided by Sportsbook.ag

Baltimore Ravens (+10) @ Denver Broncos
(UNDER 46.5)
Saturday 4:30

- There is precedence for an upset in the divisional round and I think this is the big one.  Manning is scary but the Ravens win in the playoffs.  Everyone is high on the Broncos and down on the Ravens but I think these teams are close to equal. It should be a tight game and decided late.  This could be the first game a team actually misses Willis McGahee.

Green Bay Packers (+3) @ San Francisco 49ers
(UNDER 45)
Saturday 8:00

- The Pack looked perfect against the Vikings   They slowed Peterson and shut down anything else the Viking tried to do on offense.  They also got a look at a mobile quarterback which is what they will be up against this week.  The offense preformed just fine as well and although the 49ers are a better defense, when Aaron Rogers is rolling no one in the NFL can stop him - people seem to have forgotten about that fact.  If you were worried about rookie QBs in their first playoff games you should be extra nervous about Kaepernic who has only started a few games and has had an extra week to get scared.

Seattle Seahawks @ Atlanta Falcons (-2.5)
(UNDER 45.5)
Sunday 1:00

- You can only tell a team so many times they suck before they punch you in the face.  The Seahawks are going to be that face.  The Falcons have heard for two weeks, and really all year, about how no matter what happens they cannot win in the playoffs.  Seattle is good and everyone is thinking they will win but those Vegas guys aren't dumb and they still favor the Falcons.  If Vegas wants you to go one way, go the other-fast!

Houston Texans @ New England Patriots (-9.5)
(OVER 48)
Sunday 4:30

- Houston doesn't scare anyone and it took a very average game by the Bengals to even get to this round.  The Texans haven't had a great game in a while - their offense just isn't versatile enough to do a whole lot.  They are like the Vikings when they had Harvin.  Nothing special.  The Patriots come in with a better defense and an offense with a healthy Gronk.  And Brady.  Brandon Lloyd, who has had a 1,400 yd/11 TD season, is the 4th best receiver on the team.  Now Ridley and the running game have gotten going and Houston is just going to have to choose their poison - but guess what; they still get poisoned.

NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular - Playoffs Week 1

Because we here at Brainfarts love us some football, we decided that we would not only be doing college football picks each week, but we would also be doing some NFL picks, too. So, here is where I make my NAPS (NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular):

Picks are in red
All lines are provided by Sportsbook.ag

Cincinnati Bengals (+4.5) at Houston Texans (UNDER 43)
Saturday 4:30

- The Bengals defense has been on fire in the second half of the year.  They are the number one pass defense in the NFL over that span.  The Texans are struggling coming into the playoffs and their bread and butter, Foster, seems to be off.  This game should be a defensive battle that I think the Bengals can win outright but we will take the 4.5.

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers (-8) (OVER 46)
Saturday 8:00

- The Pack get Cobb back to boost the offense and even in the bitter cold, Rodgers should lead the offense to victory.  The Vikings have played well but there just isn't enough behind Peterson.  Of all the playoff QBs I would worry about in the playoffs, Ponder is number one.

Indianapolis Colts at Baltimore Ravens (-7) (OVER 47)
Sunday 1:00

- The Ravens are flying under the radar for the playoffs but they have a great RB and a solid team around him.  That is usually the recipe for playoff success especially against a rookie quarterback that struggles away from home.  Luck will try to back-door cover but Ray Rice will salt the game away with a late TD.

Seattle Seahawks (-3) at Washington Redskins (UNDER 46)
Sunday 4:30

- RG3 has been great this year, but he is still a little limited by his leg injury and has not beaten a lot of great defenses.  The Hawks are one of the most solid teams on both sides of the ball.  Their defense is getting back their top corner back and has been smothering against the run.  On offense, Wilson has been better than RG3 the last month and has done it through the air while leaning on Lynch for the ground game.  It has been a nice story for the Redskins this year but I see a double digit victory for Seattle in this one.

NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular - Week 16

Because we here at Brainfarts love us some football, we decided that we would not only be doing college football picks each week, but we would also be doing some NFL picks, too. So, here is where I make my NAPS (NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular):

Picks are in red
All lines are provided by Sportsbook.ag

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills (-3)
Sunday 1:00

-Sanchez gets his chance to disappoint us again and Chan Gailey is too worried about his job to realize he is giving Spiller the ball 20 times.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons (- 3.5)
Sunday 1:00

-With a bye week in the first round of the playoffs, I don't think the Falcons will want their starters to rest very much.  Plus I have a feeling that even with their backups for a half, the Falcons can hang on against the Bucs.

Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints (-5)
Sunday 1:00

-  The Saints locked up their coach for the next five years.  I bet Goodell even let him talk with Brees which is bad news for the Panthers.  The Saints defense has been unexpectedly good and they should be able to put this game all on Cam's shoulders.  He will do well but not well enough.

Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers (OVER 39)
Sunday  4:30

-  This number is just a little too low.  Kaepernick as been fine leading the offense and should score 21 at least.  On the other side, the Cardinals are so horrible they might be good because Hoyer (who?) should turn the ball over a lot and hopefully even deep in his own territory or throw a pick-six.

Dallas Cowboys at Washington Redskins (Over 49)
Sunday 8:00

-Romo has quietly been going crazy for Dallas lately.  He is also a perfect "over" quarterback because he either throws great TDs or terrble INTs - both of which lead to points.  On the other side, RG3 will be RG3.

Pittsburgh Steelers (-6) at Cleveland Browns
Sunday  1:00

Thaddeus Lewis is starting at QB for the Browns.  He is their 3rd string QB.  He is from Duke.

Oakland Raiders (+8.5) at Carolina Panthers
Sunday 1:05

- I know the Raiders are bad but how good are the Panthers?  I feel like they shouldn't be a 8.5 point favorite over anyone.  The Raiders do have McFadden back so hopefully that will help them avoid a crazy shootout.

Buffalo Bills (+4.5) at Miami Dolphins
Sunday 1:05

- The Dolphins are another team that shouldn't be this big of a favorite against anyone, much less the Bills who are far from good but do have some weapons on their offense.  This game will still be low scoring - the Dolphins haven't scored over 24 in almost 2 months, making it even harder for the Fins to win by much if any.

New England Patriots (-14.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday 1:05

- The Jags are horrible on top of horrible.  This may be a sucker bet but I am walking right into that trap.  If the Jags were 14 point underdogs every game this year they would be 6-7-1 against the spread - and they don't play the Pats every week.  Lately they have lost to the Bills by 16, lost to the Jets by 7, and lost to Miami by 21.  Yikes.  The Patriots defense will be out for some redemption after last week's 49ers game and Brady could sleepwalk into 35 points.

New Orleans Saints (+2.5) at Dallas Cowboys
Sunday 1:05

- It appears no one is going to stop the Saints offense.  Dallas has played much better lately and are clinging to playoff hopes.  I think Romo choking at the end plus Dez dropping lots of passes will let the Saints escape with a win.  Winner gets Sean Payton.

NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular Week 15

Because we here at Brainfart love us some football, we decided that we would not only be doing college football picks each week, but we would also be doing some NFL picks, too. So, here is where I make my NAPS (NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular):

Picks are in red
All lines are provided by Sportsbook.ag

Seattle Seahawks at Buffalo Bills (in Toronto) (UNDER 43)
Sunday 4:05

- The Seahawks are coming off of a dominating defensive performance - my only hope is that the turnovers this week aren't returned for TDs.  The Bills defense has come together somewhat as of late and Chan Gailey still refuses to give the ball to his best player C.J. Spiller.  Throw in a crowd that doesn't care a lot about either team and you have all the makings of a stinker.

Detroit Lions (-6.5) at Arizona Cardinals
Sunday 4:10

- The last thing you want after getting beat 58-0 is to have to play at home.  That is what the Cardinals get this week.  Detroit is not anything special but Lindell is starting for the Cardinals so history suggests that he will give the Lions 7 points and he won't score more than 14ish - so can the Lions score 14 points?  I think so.

San Francisco 49ers at New England Patriots (UNDER 46.5)
Sunday 8:20

- Huge Sunday night game.  The 49ers defense is the perfect defense to disrupt Brady with penetration from the front four.  San Francisco's offense has not been great under Kaepernick - he has made explosive plays but hasn't shown much consistency.  There is also an 80% chance of rain with temperatures under 40.

NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular Week 14

Because we here at Brainfart love us some football, we decided that we would not only be doing college football picks each week, but we would also be doing some NFL picks, too. So, here is where I make my NAPS (NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular):

Picks are in red
All lines are provided by Sportsbook.ag

Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers (+3.5)
Sunday 1:00

- The Falcons have been squeaking by everyone, even bad teams.  The Panthers played them close and should have won when they played them earlier in the year in Atlanta.  I think this game will stay close the whole game and who cares who gets the late game winning field goal.

Miami Dolphins at San Francisco 49ers (-10)
Sunday 4:10

- The Dolphins have been bad lately.  Now they lose their top offensive lineman Jake Long for the year just in time for the best defensive line in football to come calling.  The 49ers aren't going to take their foot off the gas to make sure Kaepernick is ready for stronger teams ahead.  To top it all off, the Dolphins go East Coast to West Coast which is never a good thing.

Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers (UNDER 50.5)
Sunday 8:35

- Possibly no Jordy Nelson. No James Starks.  No number 2 wide receiver for the Lions. Oh and the game will be at night in the 20's with snow.

NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular Week 13

Because we here at Brainfart love us some football, we decided that we would not only be doing college football picks each week, but we would also be doing some NFL picks, too. So, here is where I make my NAPS (NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular):

Picks are in red
All lines are provided by Sportsbook.ag

Seattle Seahawks at Chicago Bears (-4)

Sunday 1:00

- Bears are getting Forte back and have a healthy Cutler.  The Hawks offense can't roll against a good team and all the stats are against them - 1-5 on the road vs a 5-1 home Bears team.  They will not score enough to cover this one on the road - Bears by 10.

Arizona Cardinals (+4.5) at New York Jets

Sunday 1:00

- The Jets playing at home is going to be much worse for them than playing on the road and with the added loss of Fireman Ed they have no spirit.  Even if Sanchez sucks they don't have Tebow to bail them out.  The dumpster fire continues to burn in spite of the Cardinals QB situation.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+7) at Denver Broncos
Sunday 4:00

- The Bucs lost a close one to the Falcons last week but it was no embarrassment - they have been playing great as of late.  The Broncos are good but with the loss of McGahee they looked a little lost and became too one-dimensional.  Even Peyton needs some kind of running game to keep the defense honest.  The Bucs may not win but they have the horses to make a game of it.

Indianapolis Colts (+5) at Detroit Lions
Sunday 1:00

- Detroit is surprisingly terrible this year and are coming off of an 0-3 stretch.  Not much has gone well for them and they have to go up against the resurrected Colts who have the cancer-fighting spirit on their side.  Luck and company have enough weapons to win a scoring race with the Lions.

Carolina Panthers at Kansas City Chiefs (+3)
Sunday 1:00

- The Eagles are the only thing that has made the Panthers look good all season.  The Eagles have not won more recently than the Phillies so that win isn't saying much.  Did you see how Bryce Brown tore through the Panthers defense?  The Chiefs have Jamal Charles so they have that going for them.  I would not make my worst enemy watch this game but I think the Chiefs can grind out an ugly win in Arrowhead.

NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular Week 11

Because we here at Brainfart love us some football, we decided that we would not only be doing college football picks each week, but we would also be doing some NFL picks, too. So, here is where I make my NAPS (NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular):

Picks are in red
All lines are provided by Sportsbook.ag

Arizona Cardinals at Atlanta Falcons (-9.5)
Sunday 1:00

-  The Falcons are coming off a loss but they had some errors and still scored 27 points.  That should be enough for the Falcons to cover - the Cardinals have the NFL's second worst offense averaging only 16 points a game.  With all the backup QBs playing for injured starters this week, the Cardinals still might have the worst QB in John Skelton (and sadly, he was their starter Week 1).  The Falcons have motivation to avenge their loss last week and they will slowly pile on the points while their defense handles Arizona - Falcons win by 17.

New Orleans Saints at Oakland Raiders (UNDER 54.5)
Sunday 4:10

- Time to play some weather games.  It is looking a lot like rain Sunday in Oakland which could put a damper on both team's passing game.  Even without the rain, the Saints have embraced the run game a little more lately which will help keep the score down a little.

Jacksonville Jaguars (+15) at Houston Texans
Sunday 1:00

- Plus 15!  This is the NFL - it may take a backdoor cover but no way the Texans are up for this game.

San Diego Chargers at Denver Broncos (-7.5)
Sunday 4:30

- The Broncos have quietly been crushing people.  They have scored 31 points or more in five out of their last six games with Peyton looking unstoppable.  On the other side, Rivers has been mostly a dumpster fire throwing to no one in particular and seemingly not caring which team catches the ball.  I will ride the Broncos and take Rivers turnover gifts to the bank in this match up.

NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular Week 10

Because we here at Brainfart love us some football, we decided that we would not only be doing college football picks each week, but we would also be doing some NFL picks, too. So, here is where I make my NAPS (NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular):

Picks are in red
All lines are provided by Sportsbook.ag

Detroit Lions (-2) at Minnesota Vikings
Sunday 1:00

-  The Vikings are in a little bit of a tailspin.  Despite a few games of Ponder trying to prove otherwise, the truth that he blows is out.  Peterson is still an unstoppable beast but without Harvin there are simply not enough weapons for the Vikings to win.

New York Jets (+6) at Seattle Seahawks
Sunday 4:25

- I know, I know - the Jets are a big joke but they aren't as bad as you would think.  They still have some solid people, just not at the skill positions. The Seahawks are coming around somewhat but they still are nothing special.  The Jets may not win this game but they will keep it close enough.

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles (+2)
Sunday 4:25

- Romo is mud.  He cannot do anything right and even if he has a moment of brilliance he has to overcome Dez Bryant's craziness.  The Eagles have not been winning but they have been moving the ball on offense.  I think they can move the ball better than the Cowboys and the turnovers could be numerous, but the Cowboys are pretty good at turning it over themselves - or just sucking.

Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots (OVER 52.5)
Sunday 1:00

- The Bills and Patriots are giving up 31 and 21 points a game this year along with 800 combined yards.  Offensively, they are scoring 33 and 22 points.  This has shootout written all over it.  The Pats are good at scoring fast and furious and the Bills are good at scoring a lot of points after the game is already over.  I expect a 42-21 point game or something in that neighborhood.

Kansas City at Pittsburgh Steelers (-12)
Monday 8:30

- This is a pure sucker bet but I am all in on it.  I just do not see a way that KC can score many points on one of the better defenses in the league at home on Monday Night. The Chiefs have played three straight games against sub-.500 teams and have lost all three by an average of over 18 points - none of those teams were as good as the Steelers.  This will be what I call a classic Alabama game - you never feel like your are getting crushed but you also know you have no shot to win.  At the end of the game you look at the scoreboard and you just lost 38-6.

NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular Week 9

Because we here at Brainfart love us some football, we decided that we would not only be doing college football picks each week, but we would also be doing some NFL picks, too. So, here is where I make my NAPS (NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular):

Picks are in red
All lines are provided by Sportsbook.ag

Chicago Bears (-3.5) at Tennessee Titans
Sunday 1:00

- The Titans have been better as of late but they haven't gone up against one of the best defenses in the league.  The Bears have been a little off on offense (see what I did there) but their defense has been crazy good.  Tennessee may be able to keep it close but the Bears will slug it out and come out with a 10 point victory.

Philadelphia Eagles (+3) at New Orleans Saints
Monday 8:30

- Philly has its backs against the wall and is blessed with going against the terrible Saints defense.  The Saints have given up more yards per game than any team has ever through 8 weeks.  Yikes.  To top it off, Darren Sproles is out which is one less weapon for Brees.  This will be a high scoring game with the Eagles barely pulling it out.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+1) at Oakland Raiders
Sunday 4:10

-  Having their best offensive lineman go out for the year will hurt the Bucs, but what is so special about the Raiders?  The main thing I see in this game is two average teams but one, Tampa Bay, is on fire lately rolling through their last few games.  The Raiders have not proven to have anything that can slow down a hot team - Bucs win by 7.

Picks are in red
All lines are provided by Sportsbook.ag

Carolina Panthers at Chicago Bears (-7.5)
Sunday 1:00

-Chicago is on fire and the Panthers are a dumpster fire.  The Panthers have the weapons to try and get a run game going but the Bears have better weapons to stop it.  I feel like Vegas is trying to get me to bet the Bears which I normally don't like but I am following the other sheep on this one.

Washington Redskins (+4.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers
Sunday 1:00

-The Steelers have flown under the radar with how very average they have been this year.  They killed the Jets, got killed by the Broncos, and have gone 2-2 in one score games against the Raiders, The Bengals, The Titans, and The Eagles.  Not exactly murderer's row.  I am still a little in denial about RG3, but it is too hard not to recognize that he is able to keep the Skins in any game, especially against a mediocre team.

New York Giants (-2.5) at Dallas Cowboys
Sunday 4:30

-As long as nothing crazy happens and this game is close, I will take Eli in the clutch over Romo every day.  Against Dallas, the Giants are 9-5-1 against the spread and 4-2 at Dallas.

Arizona Cardinals at Minnesota Vikings (-6.5)
Sunday 1:00

- Even though the Vikings got Griffined last week I still think they are a good team and their defense can dominate lesser teams.  Arizona has a terrible terrible offense on all fronts.  With Kolb out I think the Vikings have at least 5 sacks and don't allow any one player to get 75 yards.

Baltimore Ravens (+7) at Houston Texans
Sunday 1:00

- I don't think the Ravens took as much of a hit as everyone thinks when they lost Ray Lewis and DB Ladarius Webb.  Normally I would be distraught over losing a Ladarius but he is not their best corner back and even though Lewis is a great leader, his age has made him an average player.  Houston doesn't have the weapons to capitalize as much as they need to and may win but it will be close.  Baltimore has an offense that is not easily kept quiet.

Dallas Cowboys (-2.5) at Carolina Panthers
Sunday 1:00

- The Cowboys are regrouping off of a bye week and if they can get rid of some stupid mistakes they should be able to handle the Panthers.  Carolina has not been good this year against decent defenses so Dallas should be able to contain Cam and not company (see what I did there).

New Orleans Saints (-2) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday 1:00

- This seems like a trap but I'm walking right in anyways.  Is Brees dead?  Are the Saints scared of the pirate ship in the endzone?  Last time I checked the Saints, although playing bad this year, I would consider them better than the Bucs.  What's that you say - the Saints are an incredible passing offense?  Oh, good - because Tampa's number one corner back is out because he can't take his eyes off of shiny things.

NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular Week 6

Because we here at Brainfart love us some football, we decided that we would not only be doing college football picks each week, but we would also be doing some NFL picks, too. So, here is where I make my NAPS (NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular):

Picks are in red
All lines are provided by Sportsbook.ag

Cincinnati Bengals (-2) at Cleveland Browns
Sunday 1:00

- Call this one a hunch.  Cincy is the best not good team in the league meaning they lose to the good teams and beat the bad ones without many exceptions.  The Browns are a bad one and thus will be beaten.

Kansas City Chiefs at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (UNDER 40)
Sunday 1:00

- These teams do not even have mediocre offenses and are even worse at scoring touchdowns.  The Chiefs defense is getting more and more healthy and the Bucs had a bye week to prepare for....Brady Quinn?!?!?  Neither team has a great defense but they each have more than enough to overwhelm the offenses.

Dallas Cowboys at Baltimore Ravens (-3.5)
Sunday 1:00

- Dallas is the most over-rated and over-hyped team in the NFL.  Romo has been awful and the offensive line is terrible.  Even with a week to prepare, the Ravens are the superior team and are playing at home.  Dallas won't be able to conjure up the magic they had in the opening game against the Giants and the Ravens will slowly but surely put them away by over a touchdown.

Minnesota Vikings (whatever) @ Washington Redskins
Sunday 4:25

- The line isn't officially out yet on this game because RG3's status is unknown.  I do not care what his status is - the Vikings are going to pound the Skins either way.  If he plays, I think he will be hesitant which takes away all the upside from him and makes him very ordinary.  Minnesota may not have a top defense but they can lay the smack down on ordinary.  You know who the backup is for Washington?  Kirk Cousins.  Who?  Exactly.  He is a lot like RG3 except without the speed or the throwing power or the accuracy or without the four games of experience.  The Vikings win by at least 10.

NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular Week 5

Because we here at Brainfart love us some football, we decided that we would not only be doing college football picks each week, but we would also be doing some NFL picks, too. So, here is where I make my NAPS (NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular):

Picks are in red
All lines are provided by Sportsbook.ag

Atlanta Falcons (-3) at Washington Redskins
Sunday 1:00

-  Washington has held strong this year with great RG3 performances, but the defense is bad - giving up 31 points a game - and they have not really played a team that is very good yet.  The Falcons come in hot after trying to lose against the Panthers.  The Skins will get their points but Matty Ice won't be stopped.

Chicago Bears (-5) at Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday 4:00

- Same old Jaguars, maybe a tick better than last year, against the same old Bears.  The last two weeks the unusually healthy Bears defense is crushing and that won't stop against the Jags who are averaging 8 points a game in their first two home games.  Yikes.  You play this game almost any year since the Jaguars existed and the Bears win by a touchdown - that isn't changing this year.
Tennessee Titans at Minnesota Vikings (-6)
Sunday 1:00

- The Vikings always have talent on the defensive line and they will feast on Matt Hasselbeck who probably doesn't move from the couch to the bathroom to pee.  Titans, good luck with that Chris Johnson resurgence.  For the people blinded by his 141 yards rushing, don't forget to check out the scoreboard which shows that they lost by 28!

Houston Texans (-9) @ New York Jets
Monday 8:30

- Some of the talking heads think this is the must win game for the Jets and that will motivate them.  Last I checked motivation alone won't stop JJ Watt and the Texans defense.  I don't think the Jets get over 13 points and I think Houston scores at least 24.  Those are my thoughts. Welcome to Tebow Time 2.0.

NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular Week 4

Because we here at Brainfart love us some football, we decided that we would not only be doing college football picks each week, but we would also be doing some NFL picks, too. So, here is where I make my NAPS (NFL Awesome Picks Spectacular):

Picks are in red
All lines are provided by Sportsbook.ag

New England Patriots (-4) at Buffalo Bills
Sunday 1:00

-  The Pats are pissed and they need a win badly.  It's never a good idea to back Brady into a corner - I think they get back to basics and dissect the Bills.  The Bills running game is knicked up all over the board and Belichick should be able to come up with a defense to brink out Evil Fitzpatrick.  Patriots win by 10. (Side note - has anyone ever noticed the Patriot's coach is named Belly-Chick?!?  How have there not been more jokes?  Com on Jet's fans - step it up.)

New York Giants (+1) at Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday 8:30

- How are the Eagles favored?  Does Vegas think Vick is going to ONLY have 3 turnovers?  The Eagles are way to random to beat a solid team like the Giants.  I expect a lot of swings but Eli's consistency and the Giants pass rush should win the day.

Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons (-7)
Sunday 1:00

- Cam is solid but it appears like the NFL has caught up a little bit taking away anything deep and letting him run for a yard or two when he wants.  The Falcon's offense is hitting on all cylinders and should be able to top 25 or 30 points.  The only thing I worry about in this game is the back-door cover - just like college! Zing.

San Francisco 49ers (-4.5) @ New York Jets
Sunday 1:00

- The 49ers are pissed.  Jim Harbaugh does not like losing - so much so that he didn't even let the team go home during the week, instead having them practice in Ohio to avoid a long trip back to New York.  Want to know a good way to make a bunch of huge guys really really really angry?  Keep them at Youngstown State for a week  - they are going to annihilate the first Jet they see on Sunday.  The Jets are struggling on offense and the 49ers will be the best defense they will have played yet.  I have a hard time seeing the Jets scoring more than 14 points.  I'm going to go ahead and call this one exactly - 24-10 San Fran.

New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers (OVER 53.5)
Sunday 1:00

-  The Saints are not a good football team right now, but there offense has been solid.  Green Bay hasn't gotten going yet but the Saint's defense is just what they need to get going after coming off really tough match-ups the first three games. I think this game will look a lot like last year's score-fest when the Pack won 42-32.  So far this season the Saints have scored 27 points per game while giving up 34.
