Stupid State Laws - Tennessee

Here comes another post about a state law that still exists on the books and why it is ridiculous (to see them all, click here):

Tennessee

"It is legal to gather and consume roadkill."

The first thing that popped into my head when I saw this law is the scene in The Beverly Hillbillies movie where Granny jumps out of their car and shovels up a dead animal so that they could eat it for dinner.  Seriously, Tennessee, what the hell?  Why would you even need to make this a law?  Wouldn't it just be easier to let the crazy people who eat roadkill just carry on eating dead squirrels instead of having to make a law about it?  I can only guess that one eccentric Senator was busted with a trunk full of dead raccoons and before it could become a scandal, he passed a bill to make it perfectly legal for him to continue his disgusting habit of eating dead animals that have been laying on the road for god knows how long.  I really have no other explanation as to why this law would ever need to actually be made.

"Is that a car?  What the hell is that thing?"
